About us...
The Eastside church of Christ is a group of people who simply want to be Christians, using the Bible as our guide. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God for faith and instruction, and the only authority for our religious practice today.
Independent
We are an independent body of believers and have no written creed other than the Bible.
Christ Focused
We meet each Sunday to worship our God in song, prayer and giving and to remember Jesus' death and resurrection. We encourage one another and grow in truth and love as we learn from the word of God.
People Centred
Jesus came to reach out to a lost and hurting world, his ministry was love…to seek and to save. As followers of Jesus we want to do good to all people.
What we believe...
The establishment of the Christ's church in A.D. 33 was recorded in Acts 2 and since that time all who are saved are added to the church. The Book of Acts chapter 2:47 tells us that God did the adding. For this reason there are no conditions that must be met to become a member of Christ's church other than those written in the New Testament.
The conditions taught in the New Testament for joining Christ's church are:
- The gospel must be heard.
Romans 10:17 "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." - You must believe in Jesus.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - You must repent and turn away from past sins.
Acts 3:19 "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wipes out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." - You must acknowledge Jesus is the Son of God.
Jesus said in Matthew 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven." - You must be baptised for the remission of your sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38 "Peter replied, "Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
We welcome you to attend any of our services or, set a time to study the Bible at a time and place convenient to you.
